A Message from Our New Executive Director
It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to lead Oʻahu RC&D – a non-profit with a 20-year track record of supporting Hawaiʻi’s farms and ranches and their land stewardship. I’m humbled by the high standard that Jean Brokish and our dedicated board have set. Our team is committed to upholding this legacy and providing conservation planning and resource management tools to Hawaiʻi’s agricultural operations, big and small. I’m looking forward to talking story with our partners and clients over the next months, and all of the listening and learning that will entail. Mahalo for your support as we roll up our sleeves and get to work on the next chapter of Oʻahu RC&D’s service.
Dave Elliott
Mahalo Nui Loa to Jean!
Since starting with Oahu RC&D in 2009, Jean Brokish has steadfastly supported sustainable agriculture by working directly with multiple producers, partners and community groups, and provided creativity and valuable leadership to Hawaii agriculture. As of October 11, Jean will pass the leadership reins at Oahu RC&D on to our new executive director, Dave Elliott. We will miss Jean’s enthusiasm for grant writing, papaya, and BMPs; and we wish Jean the best of luck in her new position as Midwest Program Coordinator with American Farmland Trust.
“I am forever grateful for the opportunity to work with so many amazing individuals and partner organizations, and for the many ways each of you have supported me. You have taught me to grow so many wonderful things, and more importantly to listen carefully, be resilient, and act with humility. Mahalo!”
