In this video, Ku’uipo Garrido of Nā Mea Kūpono Loʻi Kalo Learning Center speaks about her heritage of farming, kuleana of stewarding her lo’i kalo, passion for Korean Natural Farming techniques, reflections on the perspective and mana wahine bring to farming, and the promise regenerative farming brings to her community and the world.

In the ahupuaʻa (land division) of Kamananui, the moku (district) of Waialua, she actively shares their 6 acre wetland eco-system at the foot of Mt. Ka’ala. In sharing traditional and modern concepts and procedures for cultivating kalo, she is able to educate and demonstrate cultural practices that enhance the concepts of respecting and connecting to the land and actualizing a self-sustaining life style.
