Waimanalo Clean-up Summary

On January 22, 2011 O’ahu RC&D partnered with Hui O Koolaupoko, Hui Malama O Ke Kai and Hawaii JobCorps to conduct the second annual Waimanalo Community Clean-Up. Community residents recycled nearly 10 tons of scrap metal, more than 100 tires, 1500 lbs of phonebooks and magazines, 50 cell phones, 95 batteries, and much more. Street teams also picked up enough bulky items to fill 3 roll-off bins – that’s 120 cubic yards of trash.

Mahalo to the many volunteers and our sponsors: City and County of Honolulu; Hawaii Department of Health; Castle Medical Center; Nalo Farms; Waimanalo Agricultural Association; The Plant Place; Hawaiian Sunshine Nursery; Shima’s Supermarket; Representative Chris Lee and Hui Malama O Ke Kai.
